As organizations evolve, the ability to collaborate and communicate between offices is paramount. Many medium and large corporations have significant investments in their existing PBX equipment and want to use it to communicate with other branch office.
Networking PBXs together allows extensions to connect directly and includes additional features that improve organizational efficiency. One solution to this challenge is Enterprise Networking; with VoIP gateways that leverage the existing connection (WAN, Wireless, VPN, V-SAT, etc) to provide “virtual” PBX to PBX line. Media Gateways are then configured to emulate the PBX, thereby hiding any changes to the existing PBX equipment. Based on the number of sites and the complexity of the solution, an optional third-party Proxy Server may also be installed to direct traffic and manage network loading.
